Hello Everyone!!

My name is Mary Hawkins and I am the Kindergarten teacher. This is my first year as a Kindergarten teacher. I have 14 years as a Head Start teacher.

I live in Murrayville with my husband, Don and our dog, Kimber. I love the St. Louis Cardinals and spending time with my family. My husband and I like to go to different places to explore and trying new adventures and new food.

I am very excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year at Meredosia-Chambersburg Elementary.

Welcome To Kindergarten!!!

We will be doing lots of learning this year in Kindergarten but also having lots of fun as well.

We started the year off with just a review of basic skills to see what the children knew/remembered from Pre-K and/or from being at home.

We have begun our letter and letter sound learning with our Orton-Gillingham curriculum. We will continue with this curriculum for the rest of the school year for all the letters of the alphabet and some letter blends. We have also started learning sight words. We will be adding more sight words as the year continues and as the children learn them.

In Math, we will work on numbers and counting throughout the school year. We will also adding some advanced concepts as tally marks, 10 Frame work, money work and telling time.
